Freddie James — Dance To The Beat (320k)

This boogie cut makes me dance like Freddie suggests. The message all in all is so true here. Freddie, how did you know how to write the lyrics just for me? And I need one of those kinda jumpsuits.

Pebbles — Love/Hate (1987)

Love/Hate is from Beverly Hills Cop II soundtrack, produced by Andre Cymone. I’ve just recently “grown” to love 80s new jack swing and R&B and this track is probably one of my favorites. Mechanized R&B.

Pebbles is also known as the former manager of 90s R&B supergroup TLC. Nowadays she has abandoned entertainment industry as she became a born again Christian in 1997 and is now known as Sister Perri. Gotta look for the 12″ even though in this case the sound is slightly more bland compared to the album version.

Robert Owens — I’ll Be Your Friend (Glamourous Mix) (320k 8:53min 20,35MB)

It was a good day — yesterday I’m talking about. Some nice stuff from local flea market for dirty cheap. This one by Robert Owens happened to hit me hard. The original version was a crossover hit in 1991. This remix was put together by David Morales. Somewhat a legend also…

The jacket pictured above I bought from another flea market at the very same day. Woo-ha!

Foxy — Get Off (320k)

Disco heat with “ua ua ua” vocal ad-libs in the spirit of Let’s All Chant. This is the album version of Get Off.

And while on the disco tip, do read this: The Lost Art of DJ RE-MIXING. Pretty nice piece of fiction with educative motives. Though one could argue against some viewpoints.

Jermaine Stewart – Is It Really Love (1988)

Jermaine Stewart — Is It Really Love? (320k)

Say It Again” LP has three top notch tracks of which two are produced by Andre Cymoné. This is one of them and it’s the album version (B1). Very pop-oriented sound which ain’t bad a thing when the groove is tight. Gots to pick up urgently the 12″ version of this and also those two others which are embedded here as videos. As of if they’ve been released. I didn’t do my homework on these yet.

…was thinking about posting also “Don’t Have Sex With Your Ex” but didn’t have the time for some tiny re-mastering/whatever work needed since the track is last song of the b-side (equals degraded quality of sound). Probably will do that later.
