Leftfield — Release 3 (320k)
The debate circulating around the roots of dubstep has been going on for years, guess it would have been so ever since the generic term dubstep came into prominence sometime around 2002.
I won’t be getting into depths with this thing right now but related to topic here’s an interesting track by Leftfield. As can be seen this cut is already some 14 years old. Proto-dubstep?

Uh ah. Had one long weekend with work-related stuff and then some other things & issues (the way life goes). So the work was DJing couple a nights and I was playing some commercial Top 20 pop stuff also since it wasn’t any special/dedicated club nights. Always debatable this thing of course but I had fun, the sound system was PROPER on saturday night, and also managed to squeeze in some of my own faves (house, disco, Timbaland, finnish versions of disco classics etc). To entertain & educate?
T-Connection — Party Night (320k)
It’s dark here most of the day but it’s not cold enough for real snow to come down. Hate sleet.
Some random info about Pure & Natural album which includes the cut “Party Night”: Bob Ludwig mastered the album. One of a famous guy is that Bob guy. Some say he’s the best at what he’s doing.
Don’t know what this has to do with anything. Just felt like sharing the fact.
Once again with the compilation rips… It sucks, but those Beat Box series are rather good actually. I’d rather share the 12″ mix. The Streets of Miami is quite hilarious combination of sharp synthesizers, sfx, nice guitar licks and jolly raps by a guy named Napoleon. Its rather cheap sounding too but it sounds like a Miami to me.
With a solid a-side like The Smurf (which reached #14 on the R&B charts in 1982), I Need Love hasn’t gotten the love it deserves. So here it is. Perhaps the second best thing Tyrone “Tystick” Brunson came up with before his career cooled down.
