Pink Project — Der Da Da Da (1982)

November 10th, 2009

Pink Project is most famous for it’s major mash-up hit “Disco Project” in 1982 which consisted of Pink Floyd’s Another Brick In The Wall and Sirius & Mammagamma by Alan Parsons Project. The song is not actually a mix of three songs in it. Instead, everything is re-played so it actually featured three covers in one song. Simply because they didn’t have any rights (nor did they ask for the rights) to sample the original songs. That summer 1982 they performed the song for tv-program. See it below. I’m suprised nobody hasn’t mimed that type of costumes and visuals yet…

Der Da Da Da follows the same principles as disco project. It combines Trio — Da Da Da (I Don’t Love You You Don’t Love Me Aha Aha Aha), Falco — Der Kommissar (Rap’ That), and Meeting into a one song and it does that rather good. Probably my favorite from the album Domino. Ah the vocoder.

Per Cussion All Stars feat Grandmaster Funk — Don’t Stop (320k)

The original 7″ release of “Don’t Stop” from 1983 has been referred to as being the first rap single in Sweden. My rip here is from a 12″ release which has no information when it was released. Must be 1984 or later I guess since this major record label single release is from that year.

This is not actually rap though, Grandmaster Funk just keeps adding some party shouts on top of disco-funkish grooves. Nice info about the Don’t Stop LP: there is a statement that “All Linn drum parts were played manually, no programming.” — PHEW & WOW!

Jacksons feat Mick Jagger — State Of Shock (320k)

I’ll be DJing today for 5 hours in a local Jack & Jones clothes shop. Heard someone there wanted it to be ALL MICHAEL JACKSON MUSIC. Reasons unknown. Think it ain’t gonna be only Michael. Anyways, I’ll try my best to keep it in the Jackson’s family. Some other bits and pieces thrown in for some change of tone, though.

Below is what they was gonna release originally but for some reasons it was Mick who ended up being on the record.

Special mix by dzei. It’s finally getting colder and darker so what we need is deep, minimal but melodic soundtrack. Personally I’m very satisfied with the outcome of this mix. Hope that’ll you enjoy it too. Tracklist below.
