MC & DJ Flash — Erotic City Rapp">King MC & DJ Flash — Erotic City Rapp

September 30th, 2010

Collaboration between DJ Flash & King MC as Future MC’s. Known for numerous “mockery” rap-versions of famous songs such as State of Shock (Jacksons), Beverly Hills Cop theme and Erotic City. They also worked together before in the Rappers Rapp Group.

And yeah, gonna try to get some tickets for Prince concert (Helsinki 15.10). Let’s see if it’s really gonna happen.

Chris Carter — Electrodub 2 (1980)

September 23rd, 2010

They’ve finally released a vinyl version of Chris Carter’s (Throbbing Gristle, Chris & Cosey) sought-after “The Spaces Between” album. Original casette-release (1980) had 15 tracks, but to this Carter only picked his favourite six. The release also includes a bonus track
“Climbing”.

Noteworthy is also that the tracks (except Climbing) are originally recorded between 1974–1978.

Nitro Deluxe — Let’s Get Brutal (1986)

September 15th, 2010

During the years this was also released as “This Brutal House”. A cult anthem — it’s considered being one of the definitive early house tracks. Nitro Deluxe used to perform with a variety of funk and jazz groups including Sun Ra’s Arkestra(!) before he started creating house tracks. Loving the synthy solo starting somewhere around 4:04 minutes.

Krush — House Arrest (1987)

September 13th, 2010

House Arrest” is considered being one of the pioneering examples of British house music and it had major crossover success in the late 80s. Also a little bit about the producers behind this song; Mark Brydon is probably best known from Moloko. Robert Gordon is someone you should get to know as a producer. He’s acknowledged as one of the godfathers of bleep and bass scene and he’s also a co-founder of Warp Records (though he left the label in 1991).
