Bianca Morales & Fast For­ward — Get Up And Dance (320k)

Could it be, Fin­land + 1984 + electro-funk with a freestyle feel (the female vocals)? Yes, yes, and yes. This sorta scene — if there ever even was one here in Fin­land — has hardly been doc­u­mented which makes it bit hard to come by with these kinda records with­out some luck. Or exten­sive Inter­netz search. Or by using your social net­work­ing skills.

Any­ways, the basic idea here was to stick a live band and a singer into stu­dio with syn­the­siz­ers and drum machines (besides more “tra­di­tional” instru­ments) to cre­ate a Finnish take on music that some pre­fer to call electro-funk. Traits of boo­gie, hi-nrg, disco, and freestyle are also all over the self-titled long play record where this cut is from.

With this song I dig the cho­rus where they have a mas­sive pub crowd/some-kinda-choir style singing which totally makes me wanna sing along while jump­ing up and down. Some sim­i­lar­i­ties to italo-style cho­ruses there.
