Get this, Rayko has 71 edits in his SoundCloud page. One might argue about whether all of them are necessary. I’ll say that not every one of them is needed but most of them are useful for dj sets. Releasing them on vinyl is a whole another matter…

“Love and Happiness” Danny Wolfers remake

Noticed that they are soon releasing a vinyl version of this magnificent remake of a forgotten chicago-house track.

Original samples vocals from philly soul/disco-band First Choice’s “Love and Happiness” (1973). There are some speculations (as in many cases :)), who originally made the chicago-house version. Ron Hardy used to play a lo-fi bootleg version of this on his dj-sets and is usually credited as the “creator” of the track, but there are also rumours that Larry Heard and Robert Owens were the ones that actually made a demo version of the track, that was only played by Hardy and was never officially released. Well, who knows.. William Stover and Lidell Townsell made also an edit of it in (1987), but they did’nt use First Choice:s vocals.

The man behind this remake is dutch electropioneer Danny Wolfers (aka.Legowelt, Polarius, Squandra Blanco and so on…), with his new House Of Jezebel alias. Like the original, it’s based on a vocal sample of First Choice, deep layered strings and hypnotic TR 707–drummachine beats.

First Choice’s song is sampled in many other releases (for example by Dj Pierre), but I think this is the best one so far!
