Lindelltronics – Avarrusfunk (1991)

Lindelltronics – Avarrusfunk (320k)

Tommi Lindell is a synthesizer wizard of some sorta from the younger generation in Finland. He has had his fingerprints on many things since early 80s through composing, arranging, producing or just by playing instruments on many many Finnish albums. This Lindelltronics thing is more or less a project which has elements of humor innit. “Avarrusfunk” is nevertheless a great instrumental electro-funk cut from Trendibuumi album (Trendibuumi is a Finnish word meaning something like trend craze).

The older generation of Finnish synthy heroes? Erkki Kurenniemi and Esa Kotilainen are perhaps the biggest names.

Kitkaliitto – Swamp EP (2009)

kitkaliitto - swamp ep

Kitkaliitto is a collaborative band of 3 friends from Helsinki to flesh out their ideas in music and visual arts.” First release from the guys came out quite recently on Kann Records: the Swamp EP. Deeper territories of house with some hints of techno, and definitely jazz. Get the digital release from Beatport, Whatpeopleplay or Junodownload. As for the physical copies, VINYL/WAX I’m referring to here, it’s a limited pressing but Juno Records got some as does Hardwax. And then there’s always Discogs. In Finland I’d go to Stupido.

And then couple of freebies. Both are still only demos but sound quite finished tracks to me. Kitkaliitto – Helsinki (Instrumental Mix) – click here to download (256kb). Great, deep “gypsy-house”.

Helsinki (instrumental) by Kitkaliitto

Kitkaliitto – Ella – click here to download (320kb). Deep house with some jazzy touches of trumpet. Loving the vocal sample and overall vibes here. Top notch.

That tunnel

(Mix of the Week is our not-so-weekly section where we present good mixtapes: either our own or found on the internets)

Timmo – Finnish UG Deep Vol. 1 [Platinum.ac Deep Techno] (320k, 113MB, 49:42 min)

Here’s the story – finnish internetz forum Platinum used to be pretty much number one for some electronic music back in the days. Don’t know about nowdays. So, this Timmo guy of a dj decided to make a mix out of “deeper techno” demo tunes he had collected from Platinum forum during the years 2000-2003. So here you go, all finnish music.

Oh and never mind the last mix between tunes by Akrid and Harrison Fnord, Serato going mental probably because of dust on the needle.

TRACKLIST
1. CRC – Durchsichtig
2. CRC – Signal
3. DJP – Pelto
4. Kalle M – Sprout
5. Kalle M – Paskasaavista
6. KolmioDraama – TalviUni
7. Juha Vilkamo – You
8. Akrid – Connections
9. Harrison Fnord – Johnstons Organ

Bianca Morales & Fast Forward – Get Up And Dance (1984)

Bianca Morales & Fast Forward – Get Up And Dance (320k)

Could it be, Finland + 1984 + electro-funk with a freestyle feel (the female vocals)? Yes, yes, and yes. This sorta scene – if there ever even was one here in Finland – has hardly been documented which makes it bit hard to come by with these kinda records without some luck. Or extensive Internetz search. Or by using your social networking skills.

Anyways, the basic idea here was to stick a live band and a singer into studio with synthesizers and drum machines (besides more “traditional” instruments) to create a Finnish take on music that some prefer to call electro-funk. Traits of boogie, hi-nrg, disco, and freestyle are also all over the self-titled long play record where this cut is from.

With this song I dig the chorus where they have a massive pub crowd/some-kinda-choir style singing which totally makes me wanna sing along while jumping up and down. Some similarities to italo-style choruses there.

Tutti Frutti: Rakas Rakas (1992) + Tutti Frutti: Paljasta Pintaa (1992)

14:23 by posten. Filed under: MP3, music

Tutti Frutti: Rakas Rakas (320k) (10,43MB 4:30 min)

Tutti Frutti: Paljasta Pintaa (320k) (7,86MB 3:26 min)

Some consider Tutti Frutti’s self-titled record being pure camp. Which it of course totally is (and was?) but it contains some nice tunes for KynyNasty-minded. Originally I was to post only the somewhat balearic cut “Rakas Rakas” but then I ended up enjoying obsessively the italo disco cut “Paljasta Pintaa” for couple of days since its lyrics totally sum up what this summer has been: sun, sun, and more sun, lying on the beach half-naked, enjoying cold beverages and music. And so on – all good.

So here’s the big question: Paljasta Pintaa – a serious contender for KynyNasty summer hit 2009? Last summer it was Steel City which started to gain more or less fans in Rovaniemi during autumn 2008, but really didn’t nail it seriously until winter 2009. Damn hipsters, always late.

What makes me really confused is this: http://paloalto.gmxhome.de/cin_cin_girls/cin_cin_girls.htm. Was the finnish “band” based on a tv series format somehow, huh?
