Paula Koivuniemi – Sata Kesää, Tuhat Yötä (Edit) (320k)
With this edit I did just some minor “modernization” of the sound + lil something else, fairly simple stuff put together quickly during one summer afternoon in 2008. Notice that “Sata Kesää, Tuhat Yötä” (“One Hundred Summers, One Thousand Nights”) is a cover version of Claudja Barry’s “(Boogie Woogie) Dancin’ Shoes” which itself is a prime disco cut.

Top 6 KynyNasty kinda tunes by Posten – March 2010
Omar – Feeling You (Henrik Schwarz Remix) – youtube – buy digi: whatpeopleplay
Tensnake – Coma Cat – youtube – buy digi: whatpeopleplay
Four Tet – Angel Echoes – youtube – buy digi: whatpeopleplay
Villa Nah – Rainmaker – youtube – buy digi: whatpeopleplay
Krystal Klear – Anteater – youtube
Atlantic Starr – One Lover At A Time (12″ Vocal Remix) – youtube
March was the last proper winter month so accordingly it’s slightly more on the deep and introvert moods with these songs. Bit delayed listing, I know I know. But yeah, this what I also have to say: really do prefer whatpeopleplay over beatport when buying digital releases. Heard some convincing words from some reliable source about this… some shady things apparently. I do reserve the right to change my mind about this, though.
And then some freebies: Get Jori Hulkkonen Extended Mix & Jori Hulkkonen Extended Dub Mix of Villa Nah’s “Rainmaker” as wave files, for free, from here. Promo stuff. Grab em! Really do. I ‘ve been jamming seriously to these since the end of last year. Still do. Check also: http://www.myspace.com/villanah.
Thanks to Antti for the photo. It’s me there.

Lindelltronics – Avarrusfunk (320k)
Tommi Lindell is a synthesizer wizard of some sorta from the younger generation in Finland. He has had his fingerprints on many things since early 80s through composing, arranging, producing or just by playing instruments on many many Finnish albums. This Lindelltronics thing is more or less a project which has elements of humor innit. “Avarrusfunk” is nevertheless a great instrumental electro-funk cut from Trendibuumi album (Trendibuumi is a Finnish word meaning something like trend craze).
The older generation of Finnish synthy heroes? Erkki Kurenniemi and Esa Kotilainen are perhaps the biggest names.

“Kitkaliitto is a collaborative band of 3 friends from Helsinki to flesh out their ideas in music and visual arts.” First release from the guys came out quite recently on Kann Records: the Swamp EP. Deeper territories of house with some hints of techno, and definitely jazz. Get the digital release from Beatport, Whatpeopleplay or Junodownload. As for the physical copies, VINYL/WAX I’m referring to here, it’s a limited pressing but Juno Records got some as does Hardwax. And then there’s always Discogs. In Finland I’d go to Stupido.
And then couple of freebies. Both are still only demos but sound quite finished tracks to me. Kitkaliitto – Helsinki (Instrumental Mix) – click here to download (256kb). Great, deep “gypsy-house”.
Helsinki (instrumental) by Kitkaliitto
Kitkaliitto – Ella – click here to download (320kb). Deep house with some jazzy touches of trumpet. Loving the vocal sample and overall vibes here. Top notch.
