Giorgio Moroder (part 2)

Yeah, more about Giorgio Moroder.

Part 2 exactly. To check out part 1, just click the link.

First I want to present this funky and everlasting disco track called “Get on the funk train” by Munich Machine to you all. It was made by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, who formed the band during the seventies (at some moment, Gary Unwin was a member also).

Then something else. A promo video clip…

“…taken from a Casablanca Records promo tape.”

The quote is taken from YouTube.

By the way, what the hell is his name? The presenter on this video… Jackass? Jack Ash? Whatever, even NASA can’t match that!

The next one is called “Machines”.

A classic sci-fi hit movie Metropolis was reissued 1984 in colour and also gifted with a brand new soundtrack! It included two tracks by Moroder called “Machines” and “The legend of Baabel” among all the other great tracks by such artists as Freddie Mercury and Bonnie Tyler. Check it out! The movie also!

The last one is legendary “Tears” also by Giorgio Moroder himself. I’m sorry about the quality.

Remember also to visit his MySpace to check out some more info and tunes.

Giorgio Moroder (part 1)

Hello! “They” call me Gorilla.

After a long non-intended silence, I think the time has come to give my support for KynyNasty. So, here we go…

One of the great legends, Hansjörg “Giorgio” Moroder (born on April 26, 1940 in Ortisei, Italy) is also one of my personal favourites.

The Italian record producer, songwriter and performer is a significant figure in the various genres of music.

In addition to his own releases, Moroder has also worked with a huge range of artists. Here is a partial list of collaborations (taken from Wikipedia or such…):

He is known to have produced various soundtracks for movies like “Flashdance”,The Never Ending Story”, Cat People” and Scarface” (to call a few) and a few tracks for video games like “Grand Theft Auto III” and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories”.

Moroder also wrote the official theme song Reach Out for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, Hand in Hand for the 1988 Seoul Olympics and Un’estate Italiana for the 1990 Football World Cup.

The almost complete (but nice) Giorgio Moroder discography can be found here.

Finally, I would like to offer some tracks of my personal choice for you to download. Both taken from the same Giorgio Moroder album: EinzelgängerEinzelgänger LP.

Einzelgänger: Basslich | OGG | MP3 |

Einzelgänger: Good Old Germany | MP3 |

This album is full of experimental “pre-disco” material that partially sounds a lot like Jean-Michel Jarre’s early works. It is also interesting to realize what Moroder has been able to compose and produce with his machines during the seventies. Highly recommended for the experience of alternative Giorgio Moroder!
